WHY IS COACHING A GOOD IDEA?

Scientific studies show that coaching is a great investment. It increases life satisfaction and professional success and improves relationships.

The Journal of Positive Psychology found that coaching has positive effects on the outcomes of performance/skills, well-being, coping, work attitudes and goal-directed self-regulation.

Also, ongoing coaching is more effective than a one-time intervention. A study showed that while group training with managers increased their productivity by 22%, including a one-on-one, eight-week coaching session for the managers pushed up productivity by 88%.

Jan is the most brilliant person I have ever met. And because she has been a university professor for years, she knows the ins and outs of the educational system. This helped me a lot when trying to get into university and through university! Now I am in law school, thanks to Dr. Jan's coaching.

I originally wanted to work with Zanetta to improve my interviewing skills. We started by reviewing and making tweaks to my resume. I received a job offer so our sessions went from interviewing to negotiating. Since this was the first time I'd done any negotiating, Zanetta helped me write a script to use that included talking points and the best way to ask for what I wanted. Everything went really well and I got the offer I was looking for. I really appreciate all the help Zanetta gave me.
― Rhonda Ray - Software Developer
I attended Dr. Wixy's "Defeating Your Nemesis" session a couple of weeks after the last school year ended. It was so wonderful to put my worst student of the year out of my head. I was able to forget about him, enjoy my summer, and not carry him with me into this school year.
“I have witnessed Bryan's counsel as authentic and highly valuable, with the student's well being at the center of focus. As a former college professor and parent of two daughters, I will lean on Bryan when the time comes for my children to begin making these decisions.”?

Academic Coaching

Academia can be tough on even the most studious and hard-working individual. Sometimes it can seem that no matter how hard we try, the grades just don’t come up. For those who are chasing a degree, academic problems can be very stressful to deal with.

Not only does a struggling student have to deal with the pressures of completing their assignments, but they do so knowing that failure could mean wasted time and money. When the pressures of good academic performance prove to be too much, many people opt for academic coaching.

Much like tutoring, coaching sessions give students help from trained professionals. Those who understand how academia works and the problems students face can provide valuable assistance. Not only can they help students cope with the overwhelming stress that academic programs are known for, they can provide strategies for better academic performance.

Sometimes we need to change our study habits, while other times we simply need a more in-depth grasp of the subject material. No matter what problem a student is having, outside input from a coach can add some clarity and much-needed control to the situation.

Regardless of a student’s major or academic standing, academic coaches can be a great asset in helping you succeed.
