WHY IS COACHING A GOOD IDEA?

Scientific studies show that coaching is a great investment. It increases life satisfaction and professional success and improves relationships.

The Journal of Positive Psychology found that coaching has positive effects on the outcomes of performance/skills, well-being, coping, work attitudes and goal-directed self-regulation.

Also, ongoing coaching is more effective than a one-time intervention. A study showed that while group training with managers increased their productivity by 22%, including a one-on-one, eight-week coaching session for the managers pushed up productivity by 88%.

Mitch has given me the confidence to put myself first, and my performance at work has been better because of it. Managing my work-life balance has allowed me to focus on what’s important to me, have “me time” again, and I am better at what I do because of it. I used to get anxious about my emails all day – now I barely worry about them because of what Mitch taught me. Now I am better able to prioritize at work and at home, leaving me with less stress at the end of the day.

Neil Fisher Vice President - Executive Search, Accounting Finance and IT at Kingsley-Rose August 4, 2009, Lynne was senior to Neil but didn’t manage directly “Lynne single-handedly shifted the culture at Deloitte with an energy that could be felt before she entered the room. It is with undeniable confidence that I say…you and/or your organization will benefit immensely from a single interaction with Lynne.”
Eris is a great trainer. He knows exactly how to motivate and empower people. He challenged the belief systems of everyone and created a strong cohesion team. We have all reached a new level of motivation and performance. As a team leader, he also taught me how to maximize individual and team potential. Thanks a lot, Eric !

Your team building exercise at our office was exemplary. I have a cohesive team and surprisingly the conflict within the members have disappeared. It is hearty to see the camaraderie. I expect to see great productivity this quarter. I am speaking to my HR to engage your expertise on a regular basis. Warm regards.
I have known Ilze Mulder for over 10 years and have had the opportunity to work with her in two companies on similar projects. The first major project was for a company implementing a Performance Management culture that was founded in Coaching principals. I found Ilze’s approach to the whole project added great value to our business relationship and assisted the business to achieve increased results measured through a range of performance measures. Her vast experience in the coaching field, added to her previous experience in business operations means that she is able to not only support through the techniques and insights of coaching, but also support through understanding the effect on the business and the impact on people. The second project was involving training and coaching of specific people. I would recommend Ilze to anyone who needs a person that is capable of working with any level of the organizations leadership team and is able to support them through coaching in both complex project implementation or seizing business opportunities. There are those that are very good in talking about what to do, however with Ilze she is all about how she can partner with you to be successful. She is a dynamic team player who inspires others to get involved, to share openly and honestly and is a lady of high ethical standards. I have really enjoyed working with Ilze over the years and have no hesitation recommending her in both her professional and personal capacity. She brings value to you through paying attention to the detail while always seeing the bigger picture, combining excellent technical knowledge with good management skills and clear, confident communication abilities.
Nicole has been the best mentor and life coach I could ask for. Unlike others, Nicole never pressures me into a decision. She provides insight, after asking for permission, and asks questions for me to find the right path. From what I’ve experienced, this is better for long-term growth and better for development. Nicole gives you permission to experience your emotions and encourages you to leave room for discovery. By rooting herself in facts and neuroscience, you learn through osmosis ways to better react to a range of situations. I highly recommend Nicole Gravagna, PhD, to anyone looking to explore themselves and grow into their fullest self.

Addressing the Negative Behavior and Tone of Dysfunctional Boards of Directors and Board Committees

Sometimes the highest people in a professional hierarchy can be the hardest to deal with.

This isn’t always the case – but anyone who has ever been in this situation knows how hard it can be when the big bosses act inappropriately or have a poor attitude.

This type of behavior at the highest levels of a business can have a nasty effect. Namely, it can trickle down and affect the entire team if the situation gets bad enough. Addressing the negative behavior and tone of dysfunctional boards of directors and board committees sometimes requires outside help.

Professional coaches with a background in business know how hard it can be when the board of directors or high-ranking committee members have problems. The problem could be individual attitude issues, difficulties working together, or a combination of the two.

Coaches can help discover the cause of the problem and advise us on how to move forward positively. Sometimes it requires us to go through the available channels to discipline or retrain these individuals. In other cases, the solution is as simple as mediation or even a change of attitude to deal with the issues.

No matter how difficult the situation has become at the top of the managerial ladder, coaches can help bring clarity and control.
