WHY IS COACHING A GOOD IDEA?

Scientific studies show that coaching is a great investment. It increases life satisfaction and professional success and improves relationships.

The Journal of Positive Psychology found that coaching has positive effects on the outcomes of performance/skills, well-being, coping, work attitudes and goal-directed self-regulation.

Also, ongoing coaching is more effective than a one-time intervention. A study showed that while group training with managers increased their productivity by 22%, including a one-on-one, eight-week coaching session for the managers pushed up productivity by 88%.

Karah facilitated leadership training for my staff in two different organizations over the last four years. She facilitated two different sessions for fire officers in Vail, and two different sessions for executive staff and fire officers in Loveland, Co. Reducing Intergenerational Conflict in Working Styles, Pacing, and Norms

Great workers are present in all age groups. In addition, all groups have their advantages when it comes to things like their approach to getting the job done.

While age doesn’t necessarily play a role in determining whether a person is a good fit for a position, different age groups on a team can sometimes create conflicts. A person’s style of work, the speed at which they complete their tasks, and the manner in which they conduct themselves at work may all be affected by age.

Older workers may value certain norms and practices they adopted from earlier in their careers. Since younger workers may not have encountered the same influences, this can lead to disagreements. Likewise, the pace of younger workers can sometimes be greatly different than that of older workers, which can also lead to disagreements.

Reducing intergenerational conflict in working styles, pacing, and norms is vital for getting the most out of a team where multiple age groups are represented. Helping workers understand one another, cooperate successfully, and avoid conflicts would be much easier with the help of a professional coach.

Coaches understand how a person’s age can affect their work performance and attitude. They can help leaders ensure all workers feel valued and important to the team, regardless of their age.

This in turn helps all team members get along better and produce better results for the organization.
