About Coach Sheryl Melanson

Is your inner dialogue holding you back? If you're feeling conflicted by living a life that doesn't celebrate your values, I can help you to redesign a more congruent lifestyle. We all lead intermingled, messy lives and get stuck from time to time. Unhealthy patterns of thought, behavior, and relationship can creep in, until we begin to realize that maybe we could use some help with a course correction. Each moment of your life is a gift, an opportunity to learn, see and evolve. Expanding your point of view can help to see the possibilities in front of you and move beyond your resistance. *If you have this idea (even if the voice speaking to you is very small and quiet) that there might be another way to live: Listen.* -Laura McKowen For the past 15 years, my listening heart and shared language skills have enabled me to guide thousands of people toward a better life. Whether I was supporting birthing women and families as a birth coach/doula, or adults and teens as they sought a life free from the chains of limiting beliefs, low energy, unhealthy habits, and unrealized potential, I noticed a common theme: that listening with an open heart, curious mind, and effective strategies paves the way to meaningful growth. Owning your process by getting back into the driver's seat of your life, with an experienced and trusted partner by your side, will move you in the direction of the life you deserve. Goals that don't represent our values are often unsustainable and unfulfilling. So, I invite you to spend time on identifying your values first. Then together, we can map out goals and action steps that line up with who you are and what you want. Because the human brain is wired for negativity bias, safety, and the status quo, I will offer honest, positive feedback to help you: 1) identify what matters most to YOU, 2) learn from setbacks and overcome obstacles, 3) install beneficial experience to reinforce inner resources, and 4) stay on track until you are ready to do so for yourself. Because reaching for a better life can feel uncomfortable, I strive to create an inviting space that both challenges and compels you, while encouraging small, incremental shifts as your transforming life unfolds. My approach is results-driven, compassionate, wholehearted and non-judgmental. Infused with 15 years of coaching wisdom, I will actively listen to your story, support you through life's ups and downs with greater ease and clarity, and help shift your narrative toward inspired action and optimal well-being. EXPECTATIONS Please know that I strive to be a caring, attentive and responsive coach. While I view Saturday as a day to replenish, often spending time in nature, I will do my very best to reply to your message within 24 hours, no later than 48 hours. Feel free to set the messaging cadence that works best for you, whether that be daily messages or 1 to 2 messages per week. Note: A coaching relationship is in no way to be construed as psychological counseling or any type of therapy. In the event that you feel the need for professional counseling or therapy, it is your responsibility to seek a licensed professional. In support of my commitment to meaningful, positive life change and coaching excellence, I aim to work with no more than 10 to 12 people at one time. I receive many inquiries each week, and payment lets me know we are ready to begin! CANCELLATION POLICY I am committed to providing all of my clients with exceptional care. When a client cancels without giving enough notice, it can undermine the value of our coaching partnership and the investment of my time before and after each call. If you experience a one-time emergency or urgent conflict, we can reschedule the call. Otherwise, you will be charged for the missed call. A few more thoughts.... HOW CAN WE BE BETTER STEWARDS OF OUR POTENTIAL? Our personal habits - emotional, nutritional, physical, cultural, and spiritual - are the foundation of our happiness, fulfillment and potential to bloom. While healthy habits support our growth, others can get in the way. However, prioritizing the alignment of our habits with our goals and values isn't as easy as it seems. I can help you to clarify and cultivate your passions to enrich both your own life and the lives of those around you. I believe we are called upon, today more than ever before, to connect and evolve TOGETHER. Let's work together to design goals and choices that align with your values for optimal well-being.

Client Reviews for Sheryl Melanson

Sheryl, I can't thank you enough for your time, patience, counseling, help, care, and love toward Mom through this challenging time in her life. You have given more time and effort than any other professional I've seen involved in Mom's life, and both she and I are eternally grateful. I wish my Mom had formed a relationship with someone like you 10 years ago :-)
― B.B., Alabama
Sheryl is such a wonderful, effective mentor. While I was searching, I found a lot of coaches who offered "recipes" for what to do to achieve whatever objective, and their methods seemed more like self-help book tools than real, custom coaching. Sheryl listened to my initial ambitions and really got to the core, helping me define my individual values. We then used those as a framework for our work together. I truly felt like it was a tailored approach and appreciated her ability to pivot every time I changed my mind on topics to explore. One thing I like most about Sheryl is how easy she is to talk to about anything. I can go on tangents all day, and she's good at letting me stray enough off-topic to learn where my intentions really led, but keeps me from going into analysis paralysis. I felt like I had permission and safety in admitting failures along the way, and if you're already looking for a coach, you need to know that's key to your success. I don't have enough spaces in my life where I can play with ideas and dreams without all the assumed consequences of vulnerability. Sheryl helps create a safe place for all that crazy to collide and form something meaningful.
― David C (Seattle), accountant, competitive rower, runner, and writer
Working with Sheryl has been awesome! She is extremely personable and easy to talk to. She uses tons of past experience and research when coming up with well thought out and personalized recommendations. She has been very flexible and has catered to a working relationship that fits my preferences and schedule. I feel more inspired than ever before and the impact to various aspects of my life is beyond what I could have hoped for. Highly recommend working with Sheryl!
― Sean M, consultant, NYC
Sheryl, you have been the most responsive and engaging as well as just plain likable. I am spending more time engaged with family. I made homemade vegetable soup and had 2 bowls because it's safe to fill up on veggies! I don't drink sodas anymore and mostly drink water. I have been pretty good at exercising at least 5 days per week - I know I can use improvement and that's why I appreciate you sending me the 7 min workout. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and the handouts, and for being there to "listen."
― Joe
Sheryl is simply amazing! I was having a tough time balancing work, life, marriage and just 1 month with her put so much in perspective! Feeling more grateful to others and saying thank you more often in non-traditional ways, flowers, songs, yoga together :) Her coaching and tools set better goals in my life and helped me feel so much better about my focus and direction!
― Michael
Working with Sheryl has been amazing, she provides many great resources!
I recently started my own coaching business and was feeling pretty overwhelmed. I had some tough decisions to make and I was starting to feel disconnected from my work and personal life. I knew over the next 3 months I wanted to make some big changes. I kept running into the same thoughts of 'I'm not good enough' when it came to my relationship. And the thought was starting to pop up in my business as well. I found it difficult to find a coach who I felt connected with. From our first conversation, Sheryl immediately made me feel at ease. I knew I had made the right decision. I have a better sense of my core values, strengths and ability as a coach after working with Sheryl. She helped me clarify what is truly important to me, which started with returning to a daily self-care practice. I love the relationship I now have with myself. I feel confident in my ability and have started to make the shifts and leaps I know I'm capable of making in my business and life, thanks to Sheryl.
― Chris W, Life Coach, Ontario, Canada
"I appreciate the time and efforts Sheryl spends aiding me as my personal life coach. She has helped me in various areas of my life and given me so much feedback and positivity. I love the connection we have and it truly helps to absolutely enjoy the conversation with her. It's like chatting with a long time friend, that has specialized feedback for EVERYTHING! She has helped me attain my goals with health, spirituality, and succeeding in my career choices. Before Sheryl, I was lost in a pool of various angles. Now, I have control of my life and can see my options and goals more clearly."
― Quinn S, Yoga Teacher, Reiki Practitioner and Mother, Shreveport, Louisiana
Sheryl is SO Amazing :) she is not only a best friend, but also a mentor, teacher, supporter, and therapist among others. She implanted a lot of positive energy and inspirations my way that they really change how i see things and feel. This new attitude really helped me to overcome and release some anxiety issues, and really helped me to improve my overall quality of life, and all great things started cominf my way. I am truly grateful being able to find her and work with her, she is also extremely responsive and really caring. Thank you SO much Sheryl :) i really look forward to more and more exciting days working with you :) xx

Sheryl is a fantastic person and provides engaging material to meet your goals.
Sheryl is simply amazing! I was having a tough time balancing work, life, marriage and just 1 month with her out so much in perspective! Her coaching and tools set better goals in my life and helped me feel so much better about my focus and direction!
I enjoyed working with Sheryl very much. She was very positive and informative to help me find my way through the tough times I was having. The insight, recommendations, and exercises all helped me get clarification and tools I needed to move forward with my goals.
Sheryl has been fantastic.
I stumbled into LiveCoach for a free trial and was immediately drawn to Sheryl’s profile. I signed up for a free phone consultation with her, and I haven’t been the same since. Sheryl has years of experience and a multitude of resources, yet I never feel that she is just regurgitating information AT me. She took the time from our first conversation, before I had even committed to her being my coach, to really develop a balanced relationship—a true give and take. I always feel heard and supported in our conversations, and she seems to know when I need a pick-me-up and sends me positive vibes. She is very knowledgeable about my individual goals, and not only checks in on my progress, but also makes suggestions to guide my growth. She herself is open to growth, and when I present her with ideas she is unfamiliar with, she does her research or allows me the opportunity to enlighten her. In a short amount of time, Sheryl has helped me more than I can adequately express. She is genuine and kind and I couldn’t be happier with her as my coach.
― Kayla W, Medical Student, Uganda ER and Homeless Shelter Volunteer, Body Bootcamp Slayer, Vermont
Sheryl is an amazing coach that will wow you :) She helped me build momentum in my life by installing small habits and having hope along the journey. I really appreciate her for that
To be honest, getting a life coach was a last resort for me; I came from the solitary school of doing things for myself, until I realized that my 'self' was the one getting in my way. When Sheryl started working with me, she spent the first month getting to know who I am and what my goals were. From the second month on, she helped me put my aspirations into action. After every phone conversation, not only would she send me the minutes of our conversation, but she also did her own homework on the books I read and the people I admired. In the following meeting, she would be more knowledgeable about my passions, and even suggest things that might interest me and increase my own learning and understanding. I would consider it a symbiotic relationship. Sheryl is a very open-minded mentor with a refined approach of empathy and guidance; She has set me on a path that I could not have done by myself. She really helped get me on track, and succeeded in a few weeks where therapy couldn't in 8 years. Who needs a therapist when you can have a coach!
― David B, Technicolor Supervising Sound Editor/Filmmaker, California
I don't know how I got so lucky to find a coach like Sheryl, but man I am glad I did!! She has already helped me work through some hurdles in my professional and personal life and I look forward to the future work we do together. That's the thing, Sheryl has set the stage for this to be a true partnership, which is such a great experience for someone like myself who has never had a life coach before. The online tracking sheet is wonderful and the contact we have in between calls is extremely helpful to staying on track and being mindful of my personal progress. If I could give more than 5 stars I most certainly would!!
― Nicole B, National Trainer, NH/CA/AZ
I consider myself very fortunate to have been connected with Sheryl. I was in a rut in my life - I didn't know how to move forward in a relationship since I had lost so much of myself in my previous one. Sheryl has been able to help me set goals for myself and start to really regain my ground again and believe in myself a little more each day. I always look forward to my phone call each week and Sheryl always sends a few messages my way almost every day to remind me to keep pushing myself and that I have someone there to back me no matter what. Sheryl isn't just a life coach, she is a friend; she goes above and beyond and really digs into something that she isn't familiar with or wants to learn more about in your life. I don't just recommend you to contact Sheryl, I urge you to because for me, I don't know how I have gone this long without her and if you are in any way lost even just a little, give her a call, she will put you on the right path. Sheryl is amazing!
― Clara B, Aerial Imagery Tech Support, Rochester, New York
Dear Sheryl, thank you so much for all your help in my effort to stop smoking. Your insights into my reasons for smoking have been an invaluable help to me and a major reason for my success. The musicality of your voice was always uplifting for me, and your encouragement always kept me going forward. I looked forward to and always enjoyed speaking with you during our sessions. My deepest thanks to you - you were a blessing to me, sincerely.
― Mary T, Mother/Dancer/Non-smoker after 42 years, Massachusetts
I have truly enjoyed working with Sheryl. She is a supportive coach who encourages and inspires. Together, we worked to develop goals and how to reach them. We worked through a career change, achieving balance in my life, eliminating unwanted habits and how to put more joy in my life. I found her to be very effective and I have grown immensely. I look forward to continue working with her as these changes become part of my new life and I strive for further goals.
― Kristin K, Pilates Instructor, Massachusetts
Sheryl's insight has helped me be honest about who I am now and who I want to be. She is helping me pave a way to walk out of past patterns into a healthier life. I cannot stress enough that I feel safe with her, and I believe it is due to her ability to be interactive and provide me with honest insight. She knows her topics well and how to communicate with me easily. As Sheryl coaches me, I gain courage and hope. For instance, without her reinforcement in boundary setting, I would not have felt safe enough to move forward. I don't have to be the protective survivor anymore. I can thrive, not just survive. I have courage that I thought wasn't possible.
― Prudence S, Paralegal, Virginia
You, Sheryl, are an interior designer - you help people decorate the “house” that they live in for their whole life on Earth.
― Donna B, Yoga Instructor/Coach, British Columbia
After going through several coaches, Sheryl was the first one that I really loved. I really resonated with her and absolutely love the way she does her coaching. She knows what to say exactly and gives advice to where you are. She's very non-judgmental and understanding but she also pushes you, which is something I believe is super important. She is helping me get back up on my feet and I am so grateful for it. I recommend her to anyone who needs help if they're feeling stuck, needs some knowledgeable advice or someone who is super understanding.
