WHY IS COACHING A GOOD IDEA?

Scientific studies show that coaching is a great investment. It increases life satisfaction and professional success and improves relationships.

The Journal of Positive Psychology found that coaching has positive effects on the outcomes of performance/skills, well-being, coping, work attitudes and goal-directed self-regulation.

Also, ongoing coaching is more effective than a one-time intervention. A study showed that while group training with managers increased their productivity by 22%, including a one-on-one, eight-week coaching session for the managers pushed up productivity by 88%.

“I can only say one thing, “Call this man!” this is why. I was introduced to Scott some years ago when I had just graduated from college and woke up one morning in a very serious panic. You see, it dawned on me that the things I wanted when I chose my career path out of high school, was not what I wanted now. I was scared, I had thousands of dollars in student debt loans in front of me, I had a job, but I was not happy in it. My parents were a huge deciding factor of my career choice and now I found myself not at all happy with them. Basically, I was a mess. I asked Scott if we could talk together from time to time, and we did, but I lived on the other side of the country from him and I thought this would not be effective. But, I was wrong, he helped me first in learning to listen better so our conversations really took hold. Since our talks began, and still continue today, I am very happy to say that my little side business that Scott helped me start, is now my full-time job, my parents and family are all part of my business, my education is actually realized, I’m using it, but in a completely different way that I couldn’t see at the time, and I have just a couple of payments left on my debt. Thank you, I truly hope that this testimonial of how you changed my life can now help you in some small way. The gratitude and thanks can never express my feelings sufficiently, you changed my life.”

I am actively working with Ellen. She is lovely and kind, an excellent listener who really wants to understand you as a person so you can reach your goals. I initially hired Ellen for some help with my resume, but went on to find her true value of helping me find the direction I want to go, to establish goals and to look at my career holistically and as part of my life, not in a silo. She is resourceful and professional to a tee. I know that we are on a journey together, and she is invested in me, which feels so good to have a partner to help navigate the path! I would recommend Ellen to anyone looking for some career insight, whether it's resume edits or help figuring out what kind of work will make you happier.

To be honest, getting a life coach was a last resort for me; I came from the solitary school of doing things for myself, until I realized that my 'self' was the one getting in my way. When Sheryl started working with me, she spent the first month getting to know who I am and what my goals were. From the second month on, she helped me put my aspirations into action. After every phone conversation, not only would she send me the minutes of our conversation, but she also did her own homework on the books I read and the people I admired. In the following meeting, she would be more knowledgeable about my passions, and even suggest things that might interest me and increase my own learning and understanding. I would consider it a symbiotic relationship. Sheryl is a very open-minded mentor with a refined approach of empathy and guidance; She has set me on a path that I could not have done by myself. She really helped get me on track, and succeeded in a few weeks where therapy couldn't in 8 years. Who needs a therapist when you can have a coach!

I would recommend this experience 100%. I had so many issues bringing myself to do the things I wanted. I was always making excuses and not taking any action, but after a few sessions with Zsofia I was able to leave aside my fears, stop making excuses and focus on what I wanted to do for so long — writing! Thanks a lot for all your help and I will definitely come back!

“When I met Jill, I had just made a huge and frightening change in my life by retiring from my job at 50, in order to be more present at home for my kids and to find “work” that felt more purposeful. I was in a place of uncertainty and felt unclear about what direction to take. As with most things in life, the action to start something new - that first step - is one of the most difficult. Jill’s style of coaching made me feel instantly comfortable to move forward. Her coaching helped me to identify a path and create positive change in my life, from which I gained momentum and further desire to continue to stretch myself. My life has changed considerably since I began coaching with Jill and I look forward to my future with an excitement I had not felt before.”
Hi Nora, thank you for al you help on this journey, your time and wisdom was and is invaluable to my professional endeavors. You helped me to cut out the noise and focus on becoming a Data scientist. It's going to be a learning curve but I am confident now I will have the ability to flex my entrepreneurial talents and will be able to make an immediate impact in this company. So stoked!

Finding What I Want to do in Life

Not everyone finds their passion or their calling early on. Some people even struggle to discover their purpose in the world despite having plenty of talent and ambition.

Even the fastest learner or the hardest worker may be unclear about what it is they’d like out of life. Many people find themselves with the following thought process: “Finding what I want to do in life is hard. How can I add some clarity to this decision?”

Coaches can work with individuals to help them discover what they want to do in life. Sometimes, this involves a few different considerations. The first is to consider what talents a person has and what sort of activities they find fulfilling.

Making this decision also involves considering what the world needs, and what sort of things can help other people. Finding a middle-point between a person’s abilities and the needs of others can make this important decision much easier. Sometimes making the decision can be hard without help. Our thinking can sometimes become clouded by the expectations of others, and even previous choices that have left us feeling less than fulfilled.

Discovering what to do in life is an important decision for living a happy life and helping others. Professional coaching provides some much-needed support for anyone making this decision.
