The act of producing creativity or moving towards our personal goals is often a lonely journey filled with subjective and boundless possibilities and yet the words often attached to ideas, the inspiration for creative expression, involve external objects. We float ideas and bounce them off sounding boards. Fundamentally, for a solitary idea to come to life and flourish, it often needs another entity to not only contain it but also give it meaning.
Paul Sanbar has spent a lifetime in pursuit of nudging others towards their goals and dreams, whether it be therapeutically, creatively or merely by performing inspirational poetry. Through the written word and his coaching practice, his mission is to not only be that non-judgmental object of constancy but also help make meaning of the meaninglessness that often befuddles many fledgling artisans.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Southern California and started his career working in media and copywriting. Over a decade ago, he transitioned away from the business world to attain his Masters of Psychology in Marriage & Family Therapy from Phillips Graduate Institute in Los Angeles. There he continued to write and worked as an existentially-focused psychotherapist, before finding his sweet spot between the two callings in Coaching, specifically Creative Launch Coaching.
A certified PCC coach with the International Coach Federation (ICF), the most widely recognized governing body of coaches, he completed a rigorous coaching certification program with Erickson College International in Vancouver. Looking to bolster his skillset, he is completing a niche certification with the Creativity Coaching Association where he is gleaning wisdom from acclaimed creativity coaches. He currently facilitates a creative goal action workshop, which he developed, called Show&Tell and coaches 1-on-1 with creative artists of all kind. Paul is an active member of the international and local chapters of the ICF and still writes and performs poetry in his hometown of Los Angeles.
Often referring to himself as the left side of your brain, his goal is to learn the way in which you perceive the world, to help you visualize a future state of project completion or personal growth, and then through active listening and timely questions, hold up the mirror to your creative aspirations. In doing so, he believes that flow state of artistic expression found inside all of us can be harnessed, and therefore actionable steps can be actualized and true creativity can be attained.
